FINAL GOAL REACHED - End of Fundraiser, BUT
We received an additional $155 yesterday, so it's official that our goal of $2000 (overall, not total online donations, but total donations together). Actually, we went about $100 over.
THANK YOU!
If you want to continue donating to the Bucy family, PLEASE feel free to do so.
The money can now go directly to their PayPal account at:
nbucy@hotmail.com
Thank you all for everything. For your time, sharing this fundrasier, to Brenda Lamey for her wonderful support, expertise, and getting all those fabulous giveaway prizes from people all over the country(thank you Brenda!)
The original goal was $1000, and everyone was so generous that we doubled it. No doubt this will help the Bucy family meet a lot of those large payments and take some stress off of them for a bit.
God Bless each and everyone of you for making this such a huge success :)

Final goal and update
Good morning to all!
I wanted to send a final push to reach our goal of $2000.00 for the Bucy
family.
Between online donations and checks/cash we have received $1,950.00.
We only need $50 to reach the final amount.
The chip in will not reflect that but we are looking at overall goal amount from all donations/contributors. We've had quite a few that have not been online.
With that, I will be leaving the Chip In open until Monday, January 26th to donate online.
After that, all donations made after can go directly to the Bucy family via their pay pal account.
I will post the address Monday morning.
Checks and cash may be sent directly to the as well.
Thanks SO much for helping exceed what we had originally hoped to raise for the family.
God is good!

Goal reached! Next two winners announced
Wow!
It's been an amazing day!
We reached our fundraising goal of $1000 for the Bucy family!!!
What a joy it has been to see such generosity from so many people.
It has been such an honor to be a part of this.
Since the goal was reached early (hooray!), its been
decided to extend the goal amount to $2000, then
close the online donations. I will keep the blog up and the
pay pal chip in open until this amount has been met or until
2/15. Whichever comes first. :). I delivered all donations
to Nora yesterday and today. She was moved beyond words.
She told me this morning her scans would be paid for
and the dental work for her son. How wonderful!!!
For now, I wanted to make sure to announce the two winners
of our third giveaway of reaching our $650 goal (which went by
so fast I didn't have a chance to post anything!)
The winner of the $24 gift card is: Terri Jackson
The winner of the handmade rosary is: Tracie Wroten
I will forward your emails to Brenda and she will be in touch!
God bless you all and thank you again!!

Met our second and third goal - SECOND WINNER
I don't have much time this morning to post, but I wanted to say our two mini goals have already been met. In two days no less.
The second goal was $400. Due to several large donations yesterday we reached $750 as of yesterday.
I was able to give Nora some of the money yesterday to help get some stuff paid. She was so, so grateful and moved.
One of my kiddos pulled a name out last night and the winner of the baby booties and $25 Etsy card is:
GINA GONZALEZ PECHER
Gina, if I can get your email, I'll get you in touch with Brenda and you can coordinate getting your prize.
I have some school work to do with kiddos and get David off to school.
I will announce two winners of the third giveaway...a handmade rosary and a $25 Amazon gift card.
God Bless and as always...
THANK YOU!

Winner!
It's time to announce the winner of our first giveaway for meeting
our $150 goal.
The winner is:
Anita Digregory!
Brenda will be in touch via email (I will send it to her)
and thank you to everyone who have donated and shared
so far!
We have had more donations come in today. And if you can
believe it, we need only $100 more to meet our second goal
of $650!!!
The prizes for this will be a handmade rosary and a $25 Amazon
gift card. Thank you to those who have provided these gifts
to give away! So, since there are two prizes, that means we will
draw two names once the goal has been met.
Our final goal is $1000.00.
I'm thinking we can do this!
Hooray!

Sunday Jan. 21 - Update, second giveaway
Good Morning to everyone!
Just wanted to give a few quick updates:
- I have had a sick 2 year old since yesterday morning, so we will still draw the winner tonight and announce it for the Trendy Traditions Chaplet. Thank you for helping us make our first mini goal.
- Second, as of this morning we have raised $300. That leaves us only $100 more to make our second mini goal of $400. When that goal is met, another name will be pulled and we will be giving away a pair of baby booties from Beth Pack, and a $25 gift card from Brenda's friend Kellie!
**edited to add a picture of the booties and gift card!
I spoke to Nora yesterday, and she told me that so far the money raised have already paid for her scans. How wonderful! One medical expense out of the way!
I'd love, love to see $1000 raised by Feb. 15th. I know we can do this...everyone has been so generous in less than a week's time. My prayer and hope for this family is that combined with any tax return they might get, another small fundraiser done by another friend, and this, that we can really make this a good month for the Bucy family and help them get their barrings done financially.
You all are awesome.
Keep up the prayers. Nora is resting this weekend from treatment on Friday.
God Bless!

Update
Good morning!
I'm working on fixing the link to reflect the donations so far. I'm not tech or online savvy, so please bear with me while I get it figured out.
Nora sent me a text message this morning, as she's undergoing treatment.
Her white blood cell count is lower than it was last time. They are doing extra tests to check the strength of her immune system now and see if they can get the numbers up. They are wondering if this is her body's way of trying to go through the chemo and heal from the dental issues she's been having (infected tooth that can't heal). Takes a week to get back up.
Continued prayers.
It means so much!
God Bless,
Jen

Thanks for stopping by!
This blog is being set up to help our friends, the Bucy family. They are a wonderful Catholic family in Mt. Airy, MD who have had A LOT happen to them over the past few years. They are always available to help others whenever someone is in a bind. Whether it's fixing cars, hosting a 31 party and giving away lots of goodies, babysitting when you need help...the Bucy's are always willing to give of themselves to anyone who needs their help. I wanted to take this chance to help them with my friend Brenda. Nora Bucy (wife and mother) was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on March 10, 2007 (the same day her third child turned 8 months old). She received treatment for it, and was almost in complete remission, when last year another lump in her lymph node was found. Surgery was done to remove it, then another popped up (she also suffers from Sjogrens disease as well. There was a wonderful miracle recently attributed to an amazing Carmelite nun currently undergoing the process of canonization, due to a healing of a woman suffering from the same disease. She had asked for Blessed Elizabeth's intercession).
Nora is currently undergoing chemotherapy as a preventative measure for the cancer.,The costs for treatment are expensive (I'd like to say staggering). She received a grant at the end of 2012 from the Lymphoma Society to pay for that cycle of treatment. The money is running out, and she starts up again this Friday, January 18th. The cost for one treatment is $14,000.00. There is a down payment of $2,500.00 due by this Friday. If this was not enough, there has been other medical expenses that have come up all at the same time. A child of theirs needed dental surgery this past fall, which they are still making payments on. Due to the chemotherapy leaving Nora with basically no immune system, her body is having a horrible time healing from recent dental surgery herself. She has needed two rounds of antibiotics, but it's healing very, very slowly. If it doesn't heal, she will have to see a specialist to have it fixed (again, more money). As brothers and sisters in Christ, I KNOW that times are tight for everyone. Having a special needs child ourselves, we really understand that for a lot of people, making it to the next check is very hard. However, I'm setting this blog up in the hopes of raising some money for this family who very much need a break. Even if it's just enough to pay off the balance of one medical bill, it would be such an amazing relief for them. One less load to carry. There is no set goal in the amount of money we are trying to raise.
In addition to this fundraiser, we have some giveaways!
Whoever donates will be entered to win our first prize, thanks to Brenda!
It's a Trendy Traditions custom chaplet, and the winner will be drawn once we reach a mini goal of $150.00.
We have several more giveaways, so please keep coming back. Brenda has done an awesome job is rallying her awesome friends to help make these available to us. Thank you Brenda!
As always, PRAYERS are the most important thing we can ever do for one another. So I ask for you to prayerfully discern helping this family if you are able, and to add them to your list of intentions.
God Bless you all and thank you so much!
